Puppy Guarantee Congratulations on your new Labrador Retriever puppy! The following is the health, hip, elbow, eye, heart, thyroid and genetic guarantee. Every effort has been made on my part to see that all puppies are in excellent physical condition. They have their dewclaws removed; received worming, vaccinations and other health care appropriate for their age. I suggest that you take your new puppy to a veterinarian within 72 hours of purchase. If I do not hear from you within four days from the date of purchase, I will assume that everything is satisfactory and the puppy is in good health. Your puppy has a microchip implanted between his/her shoulder blades. The number of this microchip will be with the microchip information. When your veterinarian examines your new puppy for his 72-hour check-up have him scan your puppy’s microchip. The number scanned should match the number with you microchip information. If they do not match or your veterinarian cannot scan the chip contact me immediately. Hip, Elbow, Eye, Heart, Thyroid and Genetic Guarantee Please read this carefully. There are certain conditions, restrictions, and time requirements that you must fulfill to maintain the guarantee. If you breed your dog (male of female) prior to obtaining an OFA(hips and elbows), and/or PennHIP, CERF number, and CNM white list number this guarantee is null and void! At no time will I accept responsibility for offspring that are determined to have CHD; PRA or any other genetic, psychological, or congenital defect regardless of what age your dog was bred. Shipping costs, medical care, training, and other expenses incurred in the ownership of a dog, are the responsibility of the purchaser. I make every effort to see that all the puppies sold are sound physically and mentally. However, as with all living creatures there are occasionally defects or health problems that cannot outwardly be determined. Such defects are not always genetic in nature. I can only guarantee defects that are considered genetic in origin. Birth defects, congenital defects, injuries incurred after the animal left my care or resulting problems from such are not covered by this guarantee. Hip and Elbow Guarantee The parents of your puppy have been radiographed and PennHIP and OFA certified. Copies have been provided. It has been determined with recently completed studies that puppies that are allowed to become overweight during their first 2 years of life are at a significantly increased risk for developing joint problems. Consequently, for the guarantee to stay valid you must keep the puppy at a good body condition and has been stated by your veterinarian in writing. A good body condition is a puppy that may be described by some as scrawny with ribs easily palpable and even the last 2 ribs showing. I recommend a large breed growth, preferably Hill’s Science Diet or Eukanuba Large breed puppy food. We know that hip and elbow dysplasia is only partially hereditary and the rest environmental so it is very important to be careful feeding you’re puppy throughout life and especially the first 2 years. A lot is up to you. I guarantee the puppies to be free of Canine Hip Dysplasia and Elbow Dysplasia by 26 months of age. To pursue this guarantee you must have OFA quality radiographs taken at no later than 26 months of age and submit them to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals or PennHIP for their hip review and request an OFA or PennHIP number and rating. I only accept evaluations made at 26 months of age or less and submitted to OFA or PennHIP as regarding hip soundness and OFA regarding elbow soundness. If the OFA or PennHIP (hip scores above DI of .5) results determine that the radiographs show evidence of Canine Hip Dysplasia, contact me immediately. Dogs that have been injured in the hip area or elbow area prior to the radiographs are not eligible for this guarantee. If OFA or PennHIP advises that the dog shows evidence of Canine Hip Dysplasia I may require another radiograph at a Vet of my choosing, have x-rays sent to me and/or discuss this matter and the animals past medical history with your veterinarian. You and I will share expenses for additional radiographs equally. If you do not contact me by the time your dog is 28 months of age, I will assume that the dog is free from Canine Hip Dysplasia and Elbow Dysplasia and that you will not be pursuing the hip and elbow guarantee. Eye Guarantee The parents of your puppy have had his and her eyes CERF cleared within the last 12 months. Your puppy has also had his/her eyes cleared by a Veterinary Ophthalmologist before receiving him or her. Upon your dog reaching the age of 24 months, I require that you take the dog to a qualified Canine Ophthalmologist to be cleared for genetic eye defects. The Ophthalmologist must be qualified to perform CERF exams and a CERF number must be applied for. I must receive a photocopy of the CERF certificate by the time your dog is 28 months of age, or I will assume that you will not be pursuing this guarantee further. Dogs that are injured in the eye area prior to their examination for CERF and that Fail to CERF are not eligible for this guarantee. Heart Guarantee The parents of your puppy have also had their hearts cleared of any genetic heart defects, namely Tricuspid Valve Dysplasia. Upon your dog reaching the age of 24 months, I require that you take the dog to a Veterinary Cardiologist to be cleared of any genetic heart defects and the results sent to OFA. I must receive a copy of the OFA certificate by the time your dog is 24 months of age or I will assume that you will not be pursuing this guarantee further. Dogs that are injured in the heart prior to their cardiology exam and fail are not eligible for this guarantee. Thyroid Guarantee The parents of your puppy have had thyroid levels run on accordance with OFA and found to have normal levels. Upon your dog reaching the age of 24 months, I require that thyroid levels are run in accordance with OFA and a copy of the OFA certificate by the time your dog is 28 months of age or I will assume you will not be pursuing this guarantee further. If your dog has received an injury to the thyroid glands prior to the thyroid levels being run and fail are not eligible for this guarantee. Guarantee Requirements and Conditions If a replacement of the puppy becomes necessary, I will replace the puppy with a puppy of comparable breeding or better from a litter produced by me within 2 years (24 months) of the date you notify me that the puppy has failed to OFA of CERF. Or I will refund the purchase price of the animal in question, at my option. Replacement criteria are as follows: 1. If you elect to keep this dog due to family attachment, you must have the animal spayed or neutered. Submit a signed letter from your Vet advising that he/she has altered this animal. Said letter must contain your name and the date the dog was altered. 2. You may return the animal in question to me (shipping and transportation costs are the puppy purchasers responsibility) along with the AKC registration papers. NOTE: If you dispose of this animal in a manner that humane euthanasia by a veterinarian without prior consent, this guarantee is NULL and VOID. If you decline to abide by any of the conditions contained in this Guarantee, the guarantee is NULL and VOID. I cannot guarantee that the dog you purchased will be a show, hunt test, field trial, or any other competition quality animal. I also cannot guarantee that this dog will be suitable for a service animal – i.e. guide dog, drug dog, etc. Nor can I guarantee that this dog will be a stud dog or brood bitch prospect. And although great thought is given to breeding this litter as to physical make up and temperament, and to selecting your puppy for you from the litter, I cannot control, or guarantee outcome of these matters. If you decide you no longer want the dog, you MUST contact Terri Alexander, DVM at the phone number provided above to have first option to obtain the dog. By accepting the terms of this contract, you the purchaser, agree to notify Doc Tee’s Labsl that you may no longer want your dog, for whatever reason, and to NEVER abandon your dog, including, but not limited to turning loose on the street, turning the dog into Animal Control, or giving away. In any case, at any time, for any reason, any Doc Tee’s dog can come back.
